SHALLOW (waves)
The ship come in from the deep
The sailors raise a victorious hoot
But the wise sailor knows that
Death is nimble in happy-drunk hands
Death awaits the dancing misstep
He knows most corals grow in shallow waters
He has seen many-a mooring’s slips
He knows the sailor’s landwithering slow
He knows that one can still drown
With seawater in the lungs on land
Or be swept away in shallow water.
