ON THE NAHARI OF DELHI

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Bismillahi wa ala Barkatillah
Ghazi Jamal asks the Lord to forgive the errors
His humble devotee's pen may accidentally incur.

O mystery that captivateth the drunken Servant
O wine for the soul that cries in the night
O Gateway to a fleeting Jannah, Allah bless your name a thousand times
O redemption of the weary Believer in the prison of the Material.

Neither art thee a repast
Nor art thou a mere snack
May thy life be long and your Hereafter sweet!
Thou, descendent of Manna and Salwa.

Thou, coolness of the eye, scourge of the accursed Papan
Who whispers in the ears of man, tempting him with curd rice
Thou, finest of the creations of the Momineen, crowning glory of Insaan
Thou, anointer of charbee on the mustache of Allama Iqbal.

Ghazi Jamal called upon Ustad Shaan to beat his pestle in rhythm
Ustad Chey Dilliwaley tunes his harmonium
In the courtyard of the tomb of Hazrat Kallu
Glorifying the blessings and mercy of Allah under the winking stars.
